“Don’t tell me words don’t matter”

Remember this remark made by Senator Obama? I will be the first to acknowledge the power of words. As a poet, I know the power words hold – invoking emotions and the senses, to our very core. Words can create images, with impact, imprinted on our brain without the use of pictures.

In late 2004, when asked about whether he would run on a National Ticket in 2008, he said he lacked the experience and ruled it out, saying – “I’m not one of those people.”
